Body Pressure Measurement System (BPMSTM )

The apparatus measures the pressure distribution of a human body on support surfaces as chairs, mattresses, cushions or backrests.
The system consists of  hardware, software and thin-film pressure sensors (mats).
The ultra - thin flexible printed circuits have pressure sensing locations arranged in rows and columns.
The sensors configuration consists of either one single mat, two mats working together or four mats.
The possible applications include the measure of the pressure areas of a seat (single mat), a  seat and backrest (two mats), and a mattress or bed (four mats). This system is commonly used in automotive and for the study of technical aids for persons with disabilities.

At the moment the body pressure measurement system is available for pressure distribution measures on:

  • Office chairs
  • Upholstered seats
  • Beds and mattresses

Pressure distribution measures can be done with the anatomic test device developed by the ISO/TC136/WG1 ad hoc group;
this device assures the repeatability of the measures.

Main features of the sensor configuration:

Model: Tekscan BPMSTM 5315
N. of mats: 1, 2 or 4
N. di Sensors: 2.016 per mat
Spatial resolution: 1 sensor/cm2
Dimensions: 427 mm x 427 mm per mat
Pressure ranges: 0-0.35 o 0-2.1 Kg/cm2
